Let’s talk about the top three signs of self-sabotage. So, are you sabotaging your success?
Maybe you have great ideas but don’t follow through.
Maybe you’re not doing what you love, but you just keep showing up to work each day.
Or maybe you know you’re capable of much more, but your results don’t reflect your potential.
Firstly, what exactly is self-sabotage?
Any time you delay achieving something meaningful to you, you’re self-sabotaging. You are prolonging the successful attainment of a meaningful goal.
Most of this you aren’t aware of. It’s all UNCONSCIOUS programming, habitual behaviour, held into place with an insulating substance in your brain called myelin, which is essentially a scientific way of saying how your mind is wired.
But until you learn how to change your programming, all the best plans, supportive people and opportunities you have on the outside won’t matter because you have a saboteur on the inside.
That’s because failure and success is an inside job.
If you have any of these three tell-tale signs, you’re sabotaging your success.
1. You Can’t Decide What To Do
The first self-sabotaging behaviour is you can’t decide what to do. Maybe you want to start a business, but you’re still looking for the “perfect one”.
Maybe you’re looking for a fulfilling career, but you’re over analysing things.
Or, maybe you want to DO IT ALL in life, but you end up doing nothing.
Not being able to make a decision is the first sign of self-sabotage.
2. Not Being Able To START
You get excited with a great goal, but you never actually start it.
So what do you do instead? You procrastinate, you watch some Netflix, you put it off until tomorrow, you have a snack, you take a nap…
All these things amount to not getting yourself to start and follow through on your decision.
3. Starting Something But Not FINISHING
Number three on our top 3 signs of self-sabotage is starting something but not FINISHING. It’s the book you started a month ago, and you’re still on chapter 2.
It’s the business that still hasn’t generated income yet.
It’s the body you want to have but aren’t taking consistent action to create.
So, if you either can’t DECIDE what to do, if you can’t START, or if you can’t FINISH, you are self-sabotaging your success.
Why Do We Self-Sabotage?
Now, this may come as a surprise to you, but one of the biggest reasons for self-sabotaging is, deep down, we don’t believe we deserve success.
For example, I used to go to a corporate job each day that made me feel EMPTY inside. That’s because I felt like I didn’t deserve to do what I love.
There’s no way someone can look at themselves in the mirror each day and say, “I love you. You deserve to be fulfilled. You’re worthy of happiness.”, and then go to a job they hate for eight hours.
How can your subconscious mind believe you? Why would your subconscious mind want to reward you for that?
It wouldn’t… because you’re punishing it every day.
So, How Do You Stop Self-Sabotage?
In my experience of helping people silence their inner saboteur, conventional wisdom tells you to learn strategies for dealing with self-sabotage.
But what I’ve found works the fastest from doing over 10,000 1on1 coaching sessions and training thousands of people across the world is to focus on what CAUSES self-sabotage in the first place, which is self-worth at a subconscious level.
Because in life, we don’t get what we want. We get what we THINK we deserve. So when you start to raise your self-worth, you start to see more results in your life.
If you would like to learn the step-by-step process of falling in love with yourself so you can improve your self-worth and attract more success in your life, then I’d like to invite you to the free event called “Turning Point Intensive”. I’ll see you soon!
